Costco has pretty good pricing for good cameras. Here is an example:

Thanks

I am currently using a Nikon D80 with a 105 mm f/2.8 macro lens. I chose the D80 because I had several Nikon AF lenses and the D40 does not have the capability of using the AF features.

The majority of the pics are shot at 1/60 s - F/2.8.

The most trusted and best priced online dealer is B&H.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

Go to the photography section forum and you'll see most will agree.

I compared against Costco and they are actually less expensive.

Adorama is another well trusted one. I got mine from Beach Camera, and have no complaints. Ritz camera and Amazon are other places you might check out.

I have also bought cameras from Beach and would include them as a good and honest dealer. They did not have everything I wanted when I bought the D80. B&H had a better selection at the time and the price was the same.

I found that Ritz, Adorama and Amazon tend to be higher than Beach or B&H.

Any prices lower than Beach or B&H are most likely scams as there are a lot out there when in comes to cameras.

Below is an article that points out a common scam.

I am in the pro video sales business. BH is the only online company I truest, but I hate it when I have to match their pricing LOL.

Yeah, just remember to calculate shipping, sometimes the other places are a few dollars less when this is taken into account.

Definately look out for scams.

On a side note, I just purchased the 50mm 1.8 from Adorama

BTW, if you are ever in NY City, you have to go into B&H, their store is HUGE.

Try shooting in RAW and using preview extractor from:
http://drchung.new21.net/previewextractor/

You loose the EXIF data in the JPG, but the program is extrememly small and is a fast way of getting a JPG from the photo. That way you don't have to shoot in JPG+RAW.

Okay... Deb is right, I guess this is getting off track

I shoot only in RAW and use Downloader Pro, Capture NX and Adobe Photoshop Elements. I'm still learning the best way to use the software programs. I downloaded Preview Extractor and will check it out.

I'll take some new pics tonight as I want to experiment with the lighting.

Capture NX is very cool (I still need to learn how to use it better). Adobe is a standard of course. I don't know Downloader Pro.

But sometimes you just want to share the jpg's quickly (and sometimes the camera does a good enough job without post processing). That is when I use preview extractor. I can't wait to see your new pictures.

Great photos. What are you using for your light source? Are these all with the macro lens?

I am using the SB-600 with a Sigma f/2.8 EX Macro lens. I have a shoe cord for the flash so I can move it to different positions. I also use a remote cord for the shutter release.

I need to get another inexpensive tripod for the remote flash to make things easier. I think I have one in the garage.

I use a Sigma 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5 for the full tank shots. I will be upgrading this lens in the future. Maybe with the 50mm f/1.8.
