I did not mean any harm with my comment about Anthony's Favites that swell up like Acanthastrea. I think his web site and corals are top notch. And he has every right to say what he likes.

I just thought it was a little funny, that's all. There are 12 species of Acanthastrea in Veron's, Corals of the World, and they all look different. Some do not "puff up" at all. I'm sure he was implying they swell up like Acanthastrea lordhowensis.

I apologise if my comments were out of line.

For the record, I think the Acanthastrea craze has helped the hobby evolve. Corals that were unsellable 6 months ago are now hot items, like Favia and Favites. These are great corals that have gone overlooked for a long time.

I'm guilty of picking up a new one myself.

Steven,

They look like they are happy there in your tank. Did you cut the red and green in half?

Now go and feed them babies. If you don't have baby mysis shrimp, you can use the regular one and crush them down a little bit. You have to target feed them though.

Hi all,
I've been tagging along on this thread drooling over all the pictures. I do have a question. I have a coral that was sold to me as a blasto, (and receding rapidly when I purchased it) all green, and I really don't think its a blasto. It swells up hugely at target feeding. The skeleton where it had receded doesn't look blasto to me either, but I'm not in any way an expert. How do you tell?

Wild, try to get us a picture. Its really tough to tell. If you can one of the skeleton as well. Being its all green, its most likely a typ e of favia or favites. Green acans are extremely extremely rare!

How to post pic

To be able to post this to my gallery the limit is very small and I'm afraid that the pic won't be big enough to see the skeleton. 50 KB big enough to see that? Any other way to do this better?

[IMG]]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/Wildpraire/acan.jpg[/IMG][/IMG]

NOt sure if this will work, but we will se. If it works its not a great photo, taken under VHO lights with no actinic since my camera can't do actinic.

Thanks every one, glad i could finally join the club! I just finished feeding them mysis shrimp, they were quick to grab them and swallow them up! Yippee, woohoo!

Amy- thanks, and thanks for the advice and pics!

John- didn't mean to cut the red and green, when it arrived that one polyp was loose and coming off so i just removed it.

Chris- lol, can't stay away from John, he's the supplier! Oh btw, no more blastos for you! hehehe

Martlooney- lol, those are definitely the magic wands! hahaha
