over flow boxes created equal?
im looking at getting some acrlic overflow boxes with U tubes. This is what im looking at. Is one brand better then another?
i was thinking if it is noisy i would put in a dunso stand pipe. Any thoughts? Would anyone know what the gph on one of these are? http://www.aquariumguys.com/eshopps-...rflow-box.html |

Lifereef makes the best. Hurricane makes a cheaper reliable overflow. Go with a brand name that will not lose siphon when power goes out.

Lifereef or nothing at all.

No, they are not all created equal. The design of the Eshopps has several problems. There have been several posts of owners having problems with them. The Lifereef is a much better overflow.

If you want the ability to throw it against the wall and not have it break get the Lifereef, it is built like a tank. If you don't plan on being rough with it get the Hurricane aka QuietFlo.

The LR has other advantages over a Hurricane besides (much) better build quality.

if i stuck another U tube in it would it carry more. i have a sequance snapper pump, its going to be pushing around 1400-1500gph. the largest flow LF has is 1200gph. at $199 two of the boxes are getting expensive.

You don't really want that much flow though the sump unless microbubbles are your goal. Also you are limited to the drain size on the gph it will flow. Simply adding another u-tube is not going to increase the capacity. 600 gph is about all the flow you want through the sump.

Yeah, that is a ton of flow. 3 - 5x display size is a good general rule.

What is the display size? Is the display up and running or is this a new tank?

drilling makes me nervois. No one in bermuda will do it thus i would have to do it my self. Plus i might want to sell it in the future and if i drill it willnt have any resale value in bermuda.
