fan/airflow question
Bought a 30g oceanic cube w/ a custom hood a while back that's running 150w mh and two 36watt pcs. The closed loop is gonna be run by a Velocity T5 that heats up the water pretty good so I've been trying to plan a strat to lower temp w/o buying a chiller. I bought this and mounted the fans in the rear of the canopy as that's the only area where air flows out. The mh is in the center of the canopy with the pcs on each side of it, running parallel. I mounted two fans in the center part of the rear of the canopy to blow air in and the other two fans on the sides of the rear to blow air out. So, in theory of course , cool air blows over the mh fixture and air in the canopy is pulled out by the side fans.
How's that sound? If its confusing, I can take a pic and show it. Thanks, Jayson |

It sounds good to me. It should do the job.

These heat sensor comp fans, are they for real? I don't notice them spinning faster when the temp increases.
Is there any way that I can measure or predict the temp drop from these guys? Seems like RC finds formulas to predict everything. |

I use something similar to those, cant seem to find the link to them...but they keep my tank at 80 degrees with 2 400watt halides and no chiller

oh and I blow outside air into the canopy rather than pulling it out....seems to work alot better, pushing the air out just makes the house hot.

There's only one entrance/exit in the canopy so I thought just blowing cool air in would be less effective. This will supposedly create a little air current through the whole canopy.
But I'll keep the alternate positioning in mind I grabbing a ACJR also so I can control the lights and fans better. No more timers that don't respond to temp! |
