HELP! Coral going to Die!!!!!!!
I came home tonight and my big Green Millipora looks like it is going to die! The skin is coming off and it is not extening its polyps. The only change I have made is to replace the drain hose. My fear is there was something on the hose and it is now in my tank water. I don't know...oil maybe?!
Is there a way to test for oil? My skimmer is not making skimmate right now either so I think that also means oil, right? I'm gonna do a 30% water change in the morning and I changed out the carbon, but is there anything else I can do? |

I dont think there is much else you can do besides run carbon and do some water changes.

Sorry for your problem. Have you checked your water parameters . Was the hose new or used ? If new it could be the oil on the end that was cut ,they spray oil on the hose cutters to keep from binding could be that.

oil would float on top of water ? Try skimming them off the top.

how are the rest of the corals doing? i mean its one thing if one coral dies vs. the whole tank. i would think a contamination that would cause your milli to degrade fast would effect everything just as fast too.
