What are the red and yellow wires for?

The exposed wires that you see are just temporary. Was just testing my pc fans.

that is some beautiful aquascaping. it still has that open look for placement of corals on the sandbed. what are your plans such as livestock?

just keep an eye on those percs. if two pair up you may end up with one floating at the top. honestly i probably wouldnt go with too many more fish. i would trade one perc out and get something like a 6-line wrasse...odd numbers of clowns tends to not work in the long-term. you could always get a goby/shrimp pair such as a yashia goby and pistol shrimp to add some movement to the sandbed...not to mention their relationship is just plain fun to watch. i will definitely be tagging along to watch your progress good luck and have fun with it! hope this helps.

Pretty neat. Yeah, first pic looks like right side of the tank is higher to me too. Any more details on the equipment? Those look like CPU heatsinks in there...

hello again everyone!
belated happy new year to all! thank you for all your comments. mikepowell> i have balanced the tank already and everything is i guess ok. everlong> thank you for your nice advice regarding fish compatibility. still researching where i can find the residents for my tank that you sugested. its really hard for me to get information regarding fishes identification here in my country because our local fish shop can't tell me what and why do i ask this questions. the truth is it's because theyjust want to sell and earn money and don't care for what i ask for. anyways i'll try to read more..... and more about this subject. thanks so much! mathias> i have balnaced my tank already. the heat sink at my sumps last chamber was just a trial. just maybe it can lower my temp just a point of notch. never did, just tried it becuase of my curiousity with experiments. i really thank you all you guys who commented! hope you guys and other members can still and follow me with my project. i have learned alot and will always want to learn more........ and more .......and more! help the newbie! i'll post pictures anytime soon also for you guys to see my progress and learn what to do. thanks in advance again! gin |

mr pink floyd> i did a power outage and it settled 3 inches before under my pc fans. if you can look closer thats why my overflow is small and my return is drilled at the back for it to not have a syphon effect.
right now everything is ok actually. but my main concern now is my remote deep sand bed which is my project this year. anyways i'll post updates on my tank everytime ido things. Thanks again everyone! |

Whoa, that looks like a LOT of hair algae. I'd say CUC and cut the lights down... Manually remove some of it too if possible.

mathias> thanks for a the quick reply. i'm running my lights for 9 hours a day should i cut it to 5? what can you suggest? i'm really worried. i only have a lawn mower blenny for the algae control. i'll try to get turbo snails and cleaner shrimp over the weekend. any suggestions for CUC?

Ya know, I looked back through this thread, and I don't seem to be able to find what kind of lights you have???
Most people will add a mixture of nassarius, cerith, trochus, astrea snails, as well as some small hermit crabs to help keep algae under control. That's likely too much for a CUC alone - I'd also suggest manually removing as much as possible. Are you running any chaeto/macro in your fuge yet?

i have 6 t5 lights. 2 super actinic, 3 blue aqua pro and 1 mid day.
i run the 2 super actinic 1 hour before the 2aqua pro and 1mid day opens, and timed the 2 super actinic again 1 hour after. i'll try to look for the CUC in my LFS that you suggested. i'm getting my cheato from a fellow reefer this coming weekend. for now, i dlont have any macros in my sump. thanks again mathias. hope to get more suggestions from all the gurus and expert here. really apreciate all the help. once again, thanks in advance everyone! |

No prob. I would probably cut out the mid-day for now at least. Then cut the photoperiod back by a couple hours. Sounds like a nice light setup though.
Good luck with your algae, it should go away in a while.
