Pair of baby Picasso Clowns Show size mint Achilles Tang (Long term captive....I am in heaven!!!) 1 Dwarf Golden Moray I took home my Baby Imperator, Naso, and a cleaner wrasse (who eats flakes BTW) earlier this week. All fish are eating and living happily in QT (transfer will be in about 6 weeks)...

By the way, what did you make that rock out of? And did you form it in the tank and let it dry there?
Because that's how it looks... again -->

Brandon you are right, that picture host is sure taking a while to load even on our slow satellite connection...
One thing is for sure, once the tank is up and filled with fish and a few frags you will have to host a frag swap just so everybody can come and look at the tank at the same time...

Absolutely! A RRC meet will happen....but not before I get things looking a bit populated with life. As far as pics.....I've been wicked lazy (and tired so I didn't get much accomplished). I did get my salt levels up to PAR, cleaned out my CA Reactor, and picked up more equipment (drain pumps etc...) I will get off my can this weekend and post some I promise!

Very cool! I love the heads, somewhat subtle in that they blend in, but still kind of overt and in your face. Two thumbs up for you!

WOW! I am so happy that people like the heads! I was concerned that they might not go over too well.

Also, I was considering not using my 2 Vortechs on this system because of the glorious amount of flow the OM and Dart produces...I decided to upgrade to the new wireless wave controllers for the Vortechs to really mix things up....my Achilles and SPS will be very happy I think
I also have two spare wet side Vortech assemblies on the way to swap them out for routine cleaning.

On a side note for everyone my QT sessions will incorporate the following:
- QT tank is a 55gal Kit from Walmart (Included tank/hood/filter/heater). They are cheap and effective. - Six week duration. ALL FISH: No excuses - Hyposalinity - Prazipro for External Flukes - Food containing praziquantel (Which is in Prazipro but will handle internal parasites this way), metronidazole, and levamisole for a shotgun treatment of all the most common intestinal worms and parasites. Jungle makes this product and it's called Anti-Parasite. These drugs are the real deal and most often used by vets to treat for these issues. Since 99% of the fish available are wild caught I feel this QT session is necessary. Going back to my reptile keeping/breeding days It was mandatory to treat for internal and external parasites to ensure your animals live a longer happier life, and increase the chances of breeding. (The drugs listed above were used for them as well). Wild animals (they all have parasites...trust me) kept in enclosed systems will cause parasite populations with direct life cycles to climb exponentially. Treating before introduction will help me to get a head start... IMO most fish deaths that do not show any visible external signals can in most cases be attributed to internal parasites consuming nourishment (tapeworms), or consuming blood and body tissue (flukes, protozoans, hookworms, roundworms etc.). Ever wonder why your seemingly healthy fish just up and dies one day....I would bet my paycheck it had internal parasites that it could not keep up with.

I watched a old show on the largest aquarium in spain the other night and they had a large spadefish. They we're feeding him by hand and adding medications but the cool part was when they held his mouth up out of the water and poured freshwater in to kill off parasites in his stomach.Maybe on smaller fish we could use a sippie cup??I wish that they had gone more into there quarantine procedures but I guess that does'nt sell!!

What about QT on frags in the same tank? Do any of those meds contain copper or otherwise cause harm to corals? I hadn't thought about a 55g kit from Wal-Mart, although I guess they are rather inexpensive...unless you don't have an RO/DI unit like me and have to run back and forth to the LFS for water to fill the thing!!

These meds should not be used on corals. This QT will be only for fish.
My corals will be dipped in Fluke Tabs, and hit with Interceptor. All frag mounts and bases will be cut off before the coral goes into the main tank. Since my plan is to get mostly LE frags, or frags from very reputable people/sources, and the dips, my chances of an issue are greatly reduced. Notice I said frags....this is my plan because it is much easier to inspect a frag rather than a colony for pests. Plus the LE stuff tends to be babied more than other corals.
