i hope kermit is just MIA and not KIA. keep an eye on water params, that'll let you know if something died.

THey will lose their clubs in a molt, and they look just as they would. Best of luck to you.

The dactyls of the raptorial appendages are about the only part of the molt skin that do not decompose and that the newly molted animal can't eat. Often after a molt this is the only evidence that you find.

Take it easy with the food. For a couple of weeks after a molt they can't break hard shells, so go with soft stuff for a few days. Also, I try not to overfeed for a practical reason. Gonodactylids that are fed to satiation at their cavity entrance become really lazy and quit coming out as often. If you keep it hungry, the animal will make more feeding excursions after the molt and will continue this behavior.

last time Bane molted, it approached THREE WEEKS.
i freaked out and stuck my finger in his hole. yea, he was in there. Not a big fan of the mantis greeting. hes molting right now, today is day 12.

Perhaps he ripped them off because he was having difficulty with his molt.

When Krueger,my L Mac molts you cant miss it or him. He is a big messy mongrel but i do love him. Also getting a new smasher soon not sure what he is. He looks kind of marbled with a light green belly and purple clubs? any ideas i think maybe a gondo of sorts.

I thought you said he lost his raps? no way for kermit to eat a snail with out his smashers dude.
you'll have to feed him personally for quite some time untill they grow back. my mantis usually takes about a week to feel comfortable after a molt. you main concern is why he lost his raps. what are your params? first IMHO thats too much light for a 10 gal mantis tank, maybe coral, but not a mantis. too much light can lead to shell disease. i have the same light on a tank 2X that size, and it still worried me till Roy gave me the thumbs up on that much light and a G.smithii, which are commonly found in shallow water. ALSO i notice that you have crushed coral as a substrate? what are your nitrates like? CC will accumulate and trap all the dieatrus(sp) and such away from your bacteria and CUC, causing a steady rise in Nitrates. high nitrates and other nasties could attribute t0 an unsuccessful molt (its why i keep asking for your params )

umm i dont know my perams right now but i will go have my tnak tested soon, its a wennerae and he is from shallow waters as well and everything i have read says even halides would be ok, so i dont think its that either i just replugged in my skimmer and stired up the sand for my filter to get at and skimmer and the skimmer is already pulling agian so there might have been some nitrates in the sand, i will get some pictures of my horribly ugly tank(right now) and i will post again when i get pics and again when i get updates or my water tested( my kit is in fallbrook)
EDIT: the snails were for the algae not for Kermit. and the sand is stireed every once in a while to get all the detritus,

Hey. Hey. HEY! hey. hey hey, gemini aquarsx(t).................you got algae :P Anyways I've never heard of shell disease on N. wennerae. They can stand every bit of light you give them unless it is intense enough to evaporate water at an alarming rate or it can burn things in the tank. Of course there is always heat from the light but I assume that is kept under control. But bad water can cause molt problems.
