I had something similar happen to a green leather of mine not long after I brought it home. I noticed some sort of small snail in the hole. I believe it was a predatory snail. I removed the snail, but the condition of the coral continued to deteriorate. I eventually cut off the top part and discarded the rest. This is just my experience, but I would investigate that hole carefully for any predators!

I would check for a predator as oldschooldino sugessts and then cut off the bad part and discard. Toadstools are pretty hardy and it should heal just fine... I have done it to mine a couple of times with no bad outcome...

If you can cut it out of the water that will be a big help. Leathers can release toxins when fragged. If not possible put in some fresh carbon to help minimize the effcts.

I've had a toadstool for two years tat has a hole in the center. The hole never grows back and never gets bigger. The leather is doing fine. Looks like an anemone and my Ocellaris clowns host in it.
