Iwasaki 15k BULBS 175watt **AWESOME**

WOW!!! These bulbs have got to be the best bulbs I have ever had!!!!! I have had 175's 250's and have friends with 400's and even HQI's. All I can say is these bulbs are 100 times better than ANY I Have seen!!!! They have GREAT color rendition and are BRIGHT!!!

I am VERY pleased with them! I am running them off of ARO electronic ballast and spider light reflectors!!!! I have a T-5 retro with Icecap reflectors that I was going to use for actinic supplement, but I dont need it!!!!!!

Just thought I would CHIME IN!!!

Getting on board for this one too. I have XM 20k on my icecap 175 but would like to find some not so blue too.

I would love to see them compared with the Aqualine AB 13K 175w bulb. This bulb is much whiter and less blue than most 14k bulbs and has been the standard for 12-15kelvin bulbs that retain 10k like PAR. I have the aqualine and these Iwasaki are going to have to be DAMN good for me to make a switch.

I have not seen Aqualine in person, so I cannot compare, but I am VERY picky and have gone through many bulbs in my tank days and MUST say I have FINALLY found my Constant!!!!!

I have had or seen these bulbs in person and nothing, I MEAN NOTHING COMPARES to these IWASAKI 15K!!! Radium 20k, XM 20k, Sunburst 12k, Hamilton 14k, Ushio 14k, Pheonix 14k DE, Venture 5.5k eew, and even a couple of T-5 setups.

They dont make this bulb in a DE...sorry!

I am not having much luck uploading these pictures, so if you would like me to send one to your email, then give me a reply at cashman95@bellsouth.net or PM me with an email I can send them to, and I will asap. Unfortunatly pics dont do them justice, but Maybe it will give some idea of how awesome thay are!

If you are in the Greenville S.C. area in the future, feel free to let me know and you can stop on by and check them out in person. Who knows I might have big enough SPS pieces to frag out!!!!

I think the 250 only comes in 6500k. This link is for the company that makes the bulb.

Is this the same as the Iwasaki Aqua2 bulbs? I had them on my old tank and was very happy.

Any idea on the PAR value of this bulb? How does it compare to an XM 10k?

Everything I've heard about that lamp is nothing but positive. I wish there was a 250 SE version.

This freakin post is about to cost me almost two hundred bucks. My XM 20k's are terrible PPFD and I have a 28" tall tank.

Shoooooot! I JUST bought these bulbs a month ago!

Unfortunately when I contacted Iwasaki to inquire about their plans for either 250 w or 400w versions of this lamp, this it the response I received:

"No plans in the near future. "

According to that chart the ppfd is 71. Can someone give me perspective on that value. I have heard rumors of this bulb being brighter than some 250s. What is the ppfd of a 250w 10k. Just wondering for comparison to get an idea of how bright these are. I agree have to agree i am very close to layong down some cahs on these

I'm getting 86 because I have the icecap electronic ballasts. That is some SERIOUS penetration.

Can we get a better explination on PPFD, I know it has a relation to PAR values, but any good info would be helpful.

I am about to slap some cash down because I have a 28" tall tank and from what these charts show my XM 20k are no good at 35 PPFD.

I've been using them for about a year now, love them. Here is a fairly recent picture. (the right hand side bulb had just shut off) They are on a Hamilton Eballast. Also have 2* 96 PC, one "blue" the other 03.
