strange brown "petals"
I have a year old 75 gallon reef with many healthy specimens, but over the past 2 months i have some small reddish-brown "petals" or "scales" that are all over everything. I cant figure out if it is from something im feeding or it is a strange algae, but i can syphon them out but they quickly come back. the size is about 1/8 of an inch by 1/8. small but pesky.....any ideas????? I feed cyclopeeze and mysid shrimp.... ill try to get some pics up.....thanks!!

red flatworms...
I would add a predator or two if possible. Increase flow and reduce nutrients. Use Flat Worm Exit only as a last resort

if they look like the ones in these pics, then yes, they're flatworms.
Here's a GREAT article by melevsreef.com: http://www.melevsreef.com/flatworms.html |

I think thats exactly what the problem is. I never thought they were living since there are so many and they dont really move. I actually just purchased a sixline, but they are all over. i syphon them out every week, but they come back!! hopefully the sixline and syphoning will help. thanks!!!! thank every one for the help!!!! Ive been keeping reefs for 5 years and never encountered them.

a store near me has such a bad infestation in one of their frag tanks that it looks like coralline algae covering the glass and sand. Eeek.... I won't be buying anything from them for a while.

Flatworm exit worked real good for me .I had a real bad outbreak in my tank from a new coral that had them.Just use it as directed and you should be fine.
