Italian Tank of the month (year maybe) - PICS intense
Hi guys and gals,
I'll post here some pictures of the Italian TOTM for the biggest italian site . It's really something worthing it.. Basically its a BB Berlin method tank. It's 2000x60x60 (cm) - something like 8,5"x2"x2" + sump 3x400 HQI (10k EVC in Diamond Reflectors with Icecap ballasts) no other lights. Lots of live rock , an H&S Skimmer , Deltec Ca and KW reactors. The owner of this tank used the Zeovit system till January the he switched to a heavy feeding method (the famous GH system but without GH) to encrease growth. I've seen this tank in person (I've made some pictures for the article) and I can say that pics does not really make justice to that tank, probably the most beautiful I've seen even online (Stewe Weast' one is different.. but not more beautiful IMHO). You can see the full article in the site in my home page |

The 4th shot down from the top is UNREAL! Look at the surface of the water AMAZING! I stare at my tank for hours and it isn't even stocked yet! Quite spectacular! Steve.

Also, it really makes me rethink the use of elaborate lighting.

Truly awesome!!!
agree as far as beauty, this tank probably cannot be beat. however, in regards to overall authenticity and realism, Weast's tank has that look to it. Had he made it 8' would have been even more incredible than it already is.. not only does the width of the tank assist with that but also open bottom space to represent a bit of the ocean floor look. IMO, too many tanks just have that cramped look. just loaded to the rim with stuff. |

Very nice. I assume it is a 180g or close (72"x24"x24"). The colors are amazing!

Triggerfish , I completely agree with you about the "realism" of Weast's tank .

wow thats very very impressive. and only 3 400s on a tank that big and nothing else, goes to show you the coverage you get from those reflectors.

Looks great to me, I like all the contrasting colors. I'm not familiar with the other tank people are referring to though. You should see the frag tank in the article. The frags need fraging! As far as I can tell it's used as an SPS refugium.

The colors hurt my eyes too. It's impressive but too crowded. Why on earth would he want to increase growth? Nothing has any room to grow as it is.

Guys, Whether you like this tank or not the skill involved in making it succeed is incredible. I dont think that this fellow posted this tank for criticism.

Those colors are unreal, the tank is amazing no doubt. I read the bulbs are 10000k. Some of the pics look more yellow than others...how would you say the color is in person?
Well Deserved!

willra : the halides are 10k .
The most "true color" pic is the second one . Only the first one seems too yellow.

Sweet Tank!!!
Pfft, Why did the owner quit Zeovit and what is the GH method without the GH? Any links or info would be great. |

GH = human growth hormone. All the rage in Europe it seems (still, despite NO scientific evidence to support it).
Heavy feeding, however, may be a different story. John

That is simply stunning. How many gallons is it? I am building a new system shortly and want to mimic this closely. Any equipment shots/ full room views? Thanks for adding this!
