Unhappy Sad news

My bird Eddie has met a most unfortunat demise.

He was eaten by a fox, and the only memory of him is a pile of feathers.

My mom looks after Eddie on weekends when I'm not at the house. Since the weather has been good, she's been putting him outside on the back deck in his cage durring the day.

She forgott about him after a long day and didn't bring him inside for the night. That's when the horror happened. The fox knocked the cage off of it's stand, and the bottom tray popped off. Since birds can't see in the dark, and his wings were clipped so he couldn't fly, Eddie didn't stand a chance.

My poor poor budgie is no longer with me.

He will be missed.

Mom said that she'd get me a new one in a few weeks. hopefully by then the pain will be dulled and I'll be ready for a new love.

Oh, AND my betta fish died this weekend too. Don't worry though, I'm not upset about that. I cleaned out the fish bowl and have decided to get those fancy glass fish that float by a glass bubble on the top of the water. They are easy maintenance. no feeding or cleaning required!

No, the bird in my avatar is my dream bird that I'm saving up for. That's a Sun Conure and they are about $800.

Eddie was a budgie that I got for free from the pet store because he had a gimpy wing and nobody wanted to buy him.

If you give me the $800 for the bird, plus another $400 for a decent sized cage, and another $200 for toys and another $50 for food, AND talk my mother into it, I'd be more than happy to get a Sun Conure!

I could probably talk him into buying the cage or the toys, but not the most important part...The BIRD!

it's a shame you are not near me as i may be giving away a sun conure. her name is sunny, and my jack russel will not leave her alone. she was given to me last week because the people who own her are not home very much and they feel she is not getting enough attention. the reason i am saying that i may have to give her away is because they asked me to let them know if she could not live with me(i warned them about the dog, she is deaf and kinda thick headed). so i would have to ask them first. she is a very beautiful bird, but i just can't get my thickheaded deaf jack russel to leave her alone.

$800 for a Sun Cunure is the pet store price. You can do much better getting from a reputable breeder.
We breed Amazons and Gouldian Finches and have found these classifieds very valuable but like anything else look and research before you buy. Read the warning at the top of the page!!

Thanks for the link Kaine.

Trust me, I've done my research, I've done my reading, I've been around birds my entire life, and I know what I'm getting myself into. My boyfriend and I also have a Green Cheek Conure, and we've taken care of a Marron Bellied Conure, and a Blue Fronted Amazon, and a Lilac Fronted Amazon, and we've babysat three Cokatoo's (I'll never do that again!)

lol, I think I'm ready for my dream bird.

And no, he will never be left outside!

My "research" comment was to warn you of the many scams on that classified site...
people actually send money to Africa becasue they think they will get a fertile Hyacinth Macaw egg shipped to them, in an incubater, for next to nothing ($100)..... in case your wondering, Hyacinth Macaws go for $8K plus.

I also just noticed you are in Canada so i dont know how things are bringing birds accross the border is.

I am sorry for your loss, unfortunatly we all are there at one time or another.
good luck in your hunt for a Sunny!

A fertilized Hy egg for $100 ! That's the biggest scam on the plannet!!!

A lot of the sites that I've looked at are all based in the States. It's near impossible to bring a bird over the border now, especially with the bird flu worrying everyone.

Someone gave me a link to Hoobly.com a while back, I'll probably end up looking there for a bird to adopt.

I picked up a hand raised green rump about a month ago and he's been a real pleasure. Hopefully, he'll remain well behaved as an adult.
