Lighting for my 65g
I will be setting up a new 65g tank this summer and I'm trying to decide on my lighting. My LFS as recommending a pendant fixture with 2 x 250w MH fixtures in it. I personally think this is overkill.
I want to go with 2 x 150w HQI's and to also use my current 130w of PC's for Actinic's on the 65g. Anybody have any thoughts on this? |

i would go with 2 150 watt HQI and some atinics on a 65 gallon, just make sure you get a really good skimmer.

That's seriously what I'm leaning towards... I don't want to cook my tank.

I have two 175w MH and two 95w VHO's on my 65 gallon tank. Seems to do the job.

Sounds like 150w-175w is the way to go. I was going to buy the "Outer Orbit" pendant but it's only available in the single bulb configuration (36") for the one I want to get for my tank. I need two bulbs because of the center brace. Most people say the brace doesn't make a difference. I guess it's just personal preference.
I just want to be sure I get some good coloration. I've always run into that problem with PC's. This will be my first experience with MH lighting. Thanks Guys.... |
