Do you have a glass uv shield on your light fixture?

Is it possible to get a lot of UV light coming out the front of your tank?

It is if the UV shields aren't on the lights.

I think any glass will reduce uv light. If that is true, there is nothing to worry about.

Some people just have sensitive eyes. Also, cataracts will also give glare/discomfort. I'm not sure your age but sometimes people will develop them young if they go w/o sunglasses, or are welders, or many other reasons such as diabetes. Does the outside sun hurt your eyes bad? I would def. have an eye dr check them it can't hurt. Should do that regularly anyway. Even if the shield is on, have you had the bulbs burning w/o the shields, it's possible that they are just oversensitized now and it will take awhile. BTW the sheild is only needed on double ended mh's.

Mybe its just that the future of your tank is so bright you gotta wear your shades....

ok, bad I know. But someone had to say it!

I agree, not kidding now...maybe you're just trying to focus too hard and your eyes aren't cooperating. I agree with getting them checked.
