New LFS in Lodi: Calypso Aquatics

Elliot (some of you might remember him from Carters some time back) has opened a new shop on the corner of N. West Lane/S. Hutchins and W. Harney Ln, Calypso Aquatics.

It's focus is solely aquarium supply and livestock, salt and freshwater. Today (Monday) I understand that he is supposed to be receiving a shipment of corals! I helped set up his display tanks, they've got quite a nice setup. Should be well worth a visit!

Just thought I'd spread the word!

I heard about it from John at Twins. He mentioned that Danny from Carters was involved too. Is that just a rumor?

I stopped by on Monday. It's pretty small, but the store has potential. There are many more tanks than dry goods. They hadn't gotten any coral in yet, but the setup looked nice.

Is this in the shopping center by the driving range? Across the street from the cherry orchard and the strawberries?

I was in there yesterday and I was very impressed with their setup. It was a very neat and clean setup and it looks like they went all out on the setups. Elliot and Danny from Carter's are running the store. I talked with both of them for a little while and they are very interested in helping the club out by sponsoring us, allowing us to use the store for meetings, frag swaps etc. I spoke with Jake about it and let him know what Danny told me. Right now the inventory is slowly being stocked but if all goes well the plans they have for the store sound fantastic. Right now the front room/showroom is up and going but they have room in the back that they plan on setting up a lookdown frag tank. They said they expect a shipment in on Tue. or Wed. and then plan on fragging out some of the shipment by Thu. They plan on selling and currently have a few frags that they will sell at around $10 per frag. They said they are going to have some fish but want to focus on corals. They also have a decent sized freshwater fish setup as well. They also have a wall dedicated to supplies such as food, salt, filters etc. I hope you all will stop by and give them a look and let them know how you heard about the store. It looks like it's going to be the type of store this area really needs and is lacking right now. Also it's Kalypso is a "K" not a "C" and it's right on the corner of West Ln. and Harney. I believe it was a Quickstop at one time?

I went there a couple times this weekend and i was also pretty impressed. I think it has great potential. I ended up getting a really nice looking arc eye hawkfish.
They are supposed to go the wholeseller this week and hand pick a bunch of corals.

I went there today and talked with Elliot and Danny for awhile. The store looks good and they had some coral in. Elliot really wants to find a way to make them stand out among the LFS' in our area. I invited him (and Danny) to join us in the forum and at any of our events, it sounds like they're going to take us up on it.

I think strippers would make them stand out. That would work right? Have a stripper greet you at the door? Yes, no?
