Help... I need mag for my CA reactor

Hi group. I'm tired of dosing expensive magniseum. I'm at a media change interval for my CA reactor and I need a mag suppliment to mix in with the reactor media. I'm trying to aviod using dolomite because of its really low ph requirements.

So far I've found three possible sloutions.

1. From frag farmers... Zeomag
2. Grotech mag pro chips. All sources seem to be over seas
3. Pure mgCO3.... goodluck finding a source/acceptable granual size.

Is is a fantasy for finding this stuff locally? Called a couple reef stores already. There has to be other reefers here running reactors and dont want to dose mag separately right?

Robert

I use the zeo mag, but too be honest PH has be much lower in your reactor to melt the zeo effectively. I dose with mag flake that we get from the group buys. The CA media melts and the MG mdeia is still there.

The mg flake group buy thread is buried. Do you know the guy who may still have some? I'd like to throw some zeo in the ractor anyway. Perhaps it will still at least leach some mag and lessen the required dosage.

Thanks Marco

I think MikeB might be the man when it comes to having some extras. If not, maybe its time for another one. I believe Minh did the last one.

I always stock bulk in the following:
MgCl2 (Magnesium chloride)
CaCl2 (calcium chloride)
MgSO4 (Magnesium sulfate)
Na2CO3 (Soda Ash)
Ca(OH)2 (calcium hydroxide - aka kalkwasser)
Fe2O3 (Granular Ferrous oxide - aka rust - aka Phosban)

$1/lb for all save the GFO, which goes for $15/lb. These are rounded to make it easier to deal with the $$.

Let me know in advance how much of what, and I will bring to the meetings. For local club members only as a courtesy.
