butterfly with aggressive fish

I have a aiptasia problem in my 180 predator tank. I was thinking about getting a butterfly but was afraid he wouldn't fair well. I do not have any real aggression in my tank, everyone is pretty chill. Occupants: Large Volitan, huma huma, niger, lunar wrasse, spotted hawk, spotted grouper, maroon clown, porcupine puffer, powder blue and yellow tang, blue damsel. The lion may be going to a new home ( he is physically as large as most of the other fish combined. Is this a bad idea? thanks Tommy

Try a true Falcula. They get pretty big for a butterflyfish and I think they are a little more aggressive and may hold better than some of the more passive varieties. I wouldn't worry so much about the trigger, groupers or lionfish. I have found established tangs can be really mean towards new butterfly additions.

If you just throw him in he would be dead within an hour. You might get away with it if you rearrange the rocks and leave the lights off for a full day. You have to trick those fish into thinking he has always been there. I don't think they would care about him if he were already there but you got some pretty aggresive hombres in that tank. Feeding time must be alot of fun.

I had a longnose in with aggressive fish for more than a year in my 90. She burnt her nose on a lightbulb and died though.
My lunare wrasse did give her some nasty bites before I got rid of the lunare.

i would be most concerned with the wrasse being aggressive unless you do as sean says and trick them i had a auriga in a fowlr with a 10" male sunset wrasse and they were buddys but of course the butterfly was in there first
