Stand build for my 90

I finally finished my stand build for my 90 AGA reef ready. I know how everyone love pics, so I figure I would post them. I still have to do a little sanding, a lot of staining and then off to the canopy. I used 2x6s for the top frames, and 2x4s for the support. Then I added a 1/2" Particle board on the top of the stand for the tank to sit on. I also drilled out a section for the over flow and return to go through the stand. The facing wood I used was select pine and this was also used to form the columns. The trim I used was a style called Egg and Dart. I used 2 sizes, the smaller one on the inside of the columns and a larger chair rail version for the floor and top of the stand trim. I also used a scalloped style trim for the column post.

I bought the doors for the stand from Lowes. The are 15" tall and 30" wide. You can order any size door pretty much and in a few different types of wood. I also ordered canopy doors which are 8" tall and 15" wide.

Here are a few pictures of the process...

this is a pic of the 2x4 and 2x6 structure portion

PS I used Marino420TD's design. He was the one who inspired me to try to duplicate his build. Thanks Man....

Nice work, Did you design the stand or did you find plans somewhere? I ask because I need to build a stand for a 75 gal.

I got the doors from Lowes. There are (2) 15"tall x 30" wide and (2) 8" tall by 15" wide. They were made out of Maple and I opted for the unfinished look. This way I can match it all myself. Total Price was $255. This was for 4 doors, and mounting hardware. It took about 3 weeks for them to come in.

Brenda, give me your email and I will send Marino's thread summed up on a word document. I can also make notes that I did for myself as I was building that might be of additional assistance. --Chris

Bryan,

This was actually a picture of my setup. I wish I could use that, it is a storage closet under the stairs. I still have to butter up my fiance. Even more begging...

Bryan,

Would I would do it in a perfect world were I made all the decisions, I would get a 50 gallon rubbermaid container and make it into a fuge/prop system. All I would have to do is have a wall outlet cover with a tube going in and one returning to the tank. hmm...

Ahh... see I am sleep deprived :-)

Who needs a closet under the stairswhen you can have a big sump, Skimmer, top off water... and on and on ...

Then under the stand, all you need is anything you need to maintain the display!

Ahhhh... Dare to dream!

Nice design... I just used a very similar design to do a stand for my 150. Difference between mine and yours is that I am going to cover mine in drywall and match it to the walls. It will be a room divider. I do like the work you did. How long did it take you to do all of that?
