As far as milk in a carton and pop in a can I'm sure the pressure has a bit to do with it (remember, pop is under a lot of pressure before you open it and release the carbonation).

And drive up ATM's have braille for a few different reasons - its not just the driver than can operate a drive up ATM, and its cheaper and more economical for the factory to produce just one common keypad for all the ATMs.

Why does paint come in cans ? The top cruds up, the can doesn't seal , and you have to throw away the paint and buy a new gallon.

uhhh guess I answered my own question ...........

LOL---if you're as far-sighted as I am, I can make out things greater than arms-length quite handily. I can ID the paint job on a passing airliner.
Read my speedometer as other than a blur? Nope. I can see the needle's general position. I'm not yet to using Braille for a driveup ATM, but it could become useful.
As is, I just go into the bank.

Why does soda get warm and coffee get cold if they are technically the same temperature when left on the counter?

It's based on their temperature when left at the counter. The word get implies a relative change of state. Since soda is generally served at refrigerator temperature it will absorb energy (heat) as it sits on the counter. Of course if the counter is on Doc Joey's deck the soda could in fact get cold.
