Need a little help...RTNing SPS
So I came home the other day (last Tuesday) to a mountain of sand on one side of my tank. It really wasn't a mountain but a small hill of sand that was moved by one of the outlets of my closed loop (it fell down and pointed at the sand). Anyway, so all of the "stuff" that was trapped in the sand bed was released into the tank. When I got home none of the corals were open, and my large green Hydnopora was losing flesh from the tips. So I changed 20 gallons of water, that I already had mixing. On Sunday, I changed 20 more because the corals haven't fully opened since. I woke up this morning to 2 corals that are RTNing from the base. I have checked all of my water parameters and they are all good. What can I do? I can;t lose the corals that I've been growing for the past 4 years.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Rick |

IME hydnophoras are bullet proof and should recover. As far as the acros they will likely recover as well, good flow will help. Maybe run some carbon too. I would however think about some insurance frags from your favorites just in case though. Was there a loss of colour? Browning out? bleaching? If they browned out they will colour back up, if they bleached give them less light until the zoanthelea (bad spelling) can recover. If there is a loss of tissue, necrosis, that is another story. If it is STN try a little crazy glue around the edges where the loss is, if RTN by the time you read this it is likely too late but if not cut some frags. Good luck.
