Low ORP reading...

I just got a 50 mg ozonizer with an ORP monitor for my 80 gal. The monitor reads 88. My tank is mostly SPS and all display new growth. Everything is doing great.

Could this reading be correct?? Ive read desired ORP is 350 give or take. Should I be concerned about the ORP level in my tank?? I assume I need to raise it slowly??

Can anyone give me some direction??

Thanks in advance!!

that seems pretty low. is that with dosing o3? 50 mg probably only makes 25 without an air dryer. I doubt you can get in trouble with that, given you take the standard precautions

did it come with calibrating instructions... if you mix up fresh water with vinegar in a 50/50 solution, and test it, what reading do you get?

Agree, my ORP probe took a week to break in, even after calibration. I wouldn't assume the ORP is correct yet, it's always scetchy anyway. I would hold off on using the ozonizer for a week, or at least stay under 250. When you trust the reading then 350 is fine, up to 400 would be optimial but pushing the limits.

They will eventually, maybe not as fast as pH. There are different types, some with Gold, others with Platinum.
I don't know which is better and how long they last on average.

It would be a good question for the Chemistry or Neptune board.

Thanks! I was going to call Curt and ask him. Or just buy a new one and see if it reads the same as my old one when I replace the ph probe.
