flatworms
Specs - 55gal with a few soft corals and about lb 50 LR. No fish in it. no skimmer and an aquaclear filter (60-110 gal).
Has been up and running from Sept beginning. Is going through a hair algae spurt. Have about 5 turbo snails and 5 red legged hermits. So I am not feeding anything to my tank. One side of my tank gets sunlight. But I have noticed over the last 1-2 weeks that I am having flatworms, the colorless, red and just noticed the larger flatworm type. I have read that it is due to too much nutrients in the tank and will go away once the nutrients get exhausted or some say is tough to get rid off. What do I do? Put in predators like six-line wrasse/dragonet or just wait? What else can I reduce as I am really adding nothing to the tank except for the water change. |

Dragents eat pods not flat worms. Wrasses are not gauranted but can help. These are a hitchhicker gone wild. This is a ID site.
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...fm?c=3578+4395 I know you can get rid of but whene i saw some on a new frag i just fresh water dipped the frag and he came off easy with a toothpic with no harm to frag. Need to know your tanks readings like phos, am, sg , temp ect.. Do you know them? Also do you use unfiltered tap water ?

I've had the best luck with FlatwormExit by Salifert. Follow the directions to the "T"! I wiped out a lot in my tank because I did not follow exactly. Be sure to have a good canister filter ready when it is time, you'll be glad you did. Have a load of water ready for changes. I did not and I was sorry, very, very sorry.
You'll have to do the treatment after a week or two, cant really remember, but have to follow up. They lay eggs constantly and have to wipe out the little ones you cannot see before they drop new eggs. Good luck, flatworms are a pain, but can be beat.
