Yellow Grouper????

LFS had a yellow grouper for $25. Beautiful little fish. I checked online but I can't seem to find how big they get. Anyone know?

little and Grouper do not go on the same page

What I see on the grouper site is that it is one of the smallest at 9"

Well, some places call hamlets groupers and I've heard they only get about 5 inches or so.

Yeah I really couldn't find anything directly about a "yellow grouper" so I was hoping someone on here would know something about them. Maybe I should put this in the Aggressive section of the forum. The fish are beautiful though, nice bright yellow color and swim around a lot.

how big is your tank? I have never seen a grouper in anything less than a 180G and that guy looked cramped.

Thank you so much techigirl, it is the pseudochromis. Are they good candidates for a relatively peaceful tank?

I don't have a pseudochromis. From what I have seen here, it seems hit or miss though with other species of pseudochromis. If no one responds, maybe try posting a new thread with a new title and the fish your currently have in your tank.

territorial and can be very aggressive, if you are striving for a peaceful tank, I would probably pass it up and go for perhaps a yellow coris wrasse, they stay pretty small and the ones I have had were pretty peaceful guys. (and a spectacular yellow)

Note that some petstores sell almost any "yellow" wrasse as a coris... note that they have a single black dot on the dorsal fin (buyer beware)

Should mention that this wrasse needs 2-4" of substrate to sleep and hide in.

Could be a panther grouper. Gorgeous fish, but they're white with black dots.
