Anemonia majano sp

What are good methods of permanently removing these anemones? Is there a reef-safe animal that can be used?
Feedback needed for experiment.

I had one come in to my tank through my live rock. One turned into hundreds in a matter of a year or so. I've tried the following to no avail:

Feeding and smearing kalk paste-Hurt them a bit but didn't kill them.

Copperband butterfly-ate everything except for the majanos.

Injecting with hot water, lemon juice. No reaction.

What worked? Tearing down the tank that they were taking over and starting over with dead, base rock. No more live rock for me....ever.

Ive got a blueface angel in my reef who behaves.. most of the time. If I joes juice the majanos, he comes up behind me a few minutes later and eats them; otherwise he wont touch them. Same for Aptasia. Once theyre juiced though, he eats them ravenously, and they dont grow back. Thats about the only thing Ive found that works reasonably well.

Joe's Jiuce equaled disaster in my mejano battle. The four I had basically exploded!!

The solution that I have found is to place the LR in a tank with a PH and NO fluorescent bulb and within a week or two they greatly reduce their grip on the rock. After that, I simply siphon them off the rock or glass or wherever they have migrated too. It is reduclously easy.

I had one and I thought it looked cool so I left it. Then it turned into 2 and I thought , "OK as long as there are only 2...." Then I found 1 half way across the tank and decided it was time to take action. The rock with the original 2 was small so I took it out and used hoy water and a brush to scrub them off. The 3rd was on a rock with some Palys so I turned off all flow and used a syringe to "feed" it with kalk paste. At first it sucked in the paste then it expelled it and shrunk to nothing. 1 month later and it's still gone.
I'm hoping that's the end.

I heard that if you put a plate over the rock and block the light they will move onto the plate in search of light. Never tried it but heard it somewhere might be worth a try.

The plate thing does work. As does a shell, rock or whatever. Beware, that sometimes they let go and float to other parts of the tank. That seems to be the way they spread other than division. When I do the low light thing, a lot of the actually migrate to the wall of the aquarium which makes them really easy to remove.

I had a bunch of them in my sump and all the suddent they where gone also I was missing 2 peppermint shrimp for about 2 weeks they had went down over flow now I have no manjos or aptasia in my sump but I have 2 very big and fat shrimp.

i have had no luck with joe's juice, copperband, peppermints, etc.......

my last ditch solution was to pull the infested live rock and move it from the reef tank to my pond. the dogface puffers and heniochus butterflies eat them within days and i move the rock back to the reef. they never return. the good thing is they dont eat the zoes and other good corals that i want to keep.

they are mommy's little helpers.

i am doing this a few rocks at a time.

I've had no luck with Joes Juice. It just knocks them back a bit. Injecting them with Kalk, boiling Kalk slurry, lemon juice, and Stop Apitisia. They wither away for a couple of weeks, just to return. Peppermint Shrimp have helped me the most. They will eat the smaller ones, sometimes.

I just hate those things! Everytime I see a thread on Majanos' I always stop to read, to see if anybody has anything "new" to add on how to remove these annoying pests!

Superglue, or epoxy work. I've also had good luck with very carefully peeling anemone's foot off of the rock with a pair of fine tweezers. When retracted, the foot is surprisingly tough. Obviously this doesn't work if it's a deeper crevice where you can't reach the foot in which case you could entomb it with a small wad of epoxy.
