My own Zeroedge tank
Ok I am going to try and build a zero edge tank myself.
What kind of glue or silicone do you use to hold acrylic together. Will I save any moey building myself or should I forget about it and buy a custom made tank? How hard is it to prevent leaks. And have you guys heard of anyone building a zeroedge tank before? It would be great if you guys could give me your total cost on your setup. |

ok here are my dimensions
31"x19 "x14" for the tank and 26 " x 16" x 14" for the sump Ok zero edge uses 3/4" acrylic. Is the that the thickness I should go with? Or should I go with something thinner. Or should I just go to glass? |

Nice - following along.
Personally I would do acrylic - based on my own preference for how it looks. It may also be easier to modify during the build (i.e. angled top edges to promote even flow). I can't remember if you were a part of this thread a few weeks ago or not. It does however have some interesting ideas/tips. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...8&goto=newpost

You definatly want to go with 3/4 cast, round the top edges. There is a thread here somehwere that explains the pins method of "glueing" solvent welding acryic. Probably a good place to start, but I'd practice on some scraps if this is your first attempt.
Also spend some time learning how the ZE tanks work. Pay close attention to how the drains function. Don |
