Gregg, you called that one. Here is a picture of the adult:

It looks like someone monkeyed with the saturation on that pic. The adults are pretty colorful, but not that bright.

Keep in mind the fishbase pics are of preserved specimens. When you preserve them you lose the color. Also, notice that the max length listed is about a foot and a half.

If someone buys the fish, I would like to see them post pics of it to see if the colors look like the pics.

So beautiful.....!

That fish and I are buddies- LOL. He was really nervous and jumpy the first few days we had him, but has gotten well over that. Now takes krill out of my hands (if I dont get nervous and pull back first) and follows me around while I algae scrape his tank.

Whisperer- The cichlid thing keeps going through my mind too. For whatever reason, he reminds me of a C. dovii- though MUCH nicer color obviously.

Ah, and I will say that the colors are pretty true to that, though that is his good side (catches the light just right). When he turns the right way his tail seems to glow orange, while the pink on his face stays nice and bright. As someone else noted, the pics on fishbase are of preserved specimens. This guy is 3/4 grown (about 30cm) and has nice coloration yet. Id be surprised to see it fade like some of its cousins do.

Ill be sad to see him go- Id love to keep him for the store display tank, but afraid he would be hard on the inverts...

If you notice the piping at the top of the pic. it has as much color as the fish.

I seen it in person, they didnt have the lights on, so hard to say about true color, and they had an elegance in there for it to eat, must have been a goner anyway.

Haha.. that stupid elegance coral. I threw it in there a couple weeks ago because it had detached from its skeleton, so rather than wasting it I was letting a large Queen Angel finish it off. Funny thing is, within 3 days it was reattached and opening beautifully, so Ive just left the coral alone to see what it does in the long term.

Sad news for me though- the Wrasse did get a new home today. The good news is- a local 24 hour pizza shop got him for their 400+ display. Now I can visit the tripletail, and have Hounddogs Pizza (wonderful stuff...) at 4am whenever I want. Woohoo!
