Can purple gorgonian come back from the dead?
I just received a rock covered in ricordia that I bought online, and there's a stump of a purple gorgonian on the rock. It's about a 2" long stump -- the gorgonian was cut off right after the point where it started to branch out, so there are the beginnings of multiple smaller branches on the end of the stump. Although the stump is quite purple, there's a blackish scar where the coral was cut. Anyone think there's any chance it could regenerate?

Mine often looks like a dead stick, then suddenly the polyps will reappear. I say...give it a chance. What harm is there?
