Lumenarc III Mini Stealth DE Feedback

Well I think the title says it all. This is my first time posting here but I read here quite often. I just ordered 2 of these Lumenarc III Mini Stealth DE reflectors. I want to know if anyone has them or has some feedback for me. I'm putting 2 10,000 K Ushio bulbs in them but will I still need actinics? I have some actinics I could throw on with them but I don't want to ruin the style of the reflectors with ugly actinics if I don't have to.

Thanks.

I use a pair on my 90. It has a better spread than my old PFO minis for sure. As for as th 10K Ushios, Im not sure. Never used them. I did use 14K Ushios at one time and I still ran actinics with them. Tank was a bit yellow with out actinics. I use 12K Reeflux on HQI magnetics now. These lamps dont need actinics IMO.

deuce, your avatar just plain bothers me. It makes me think the chick on the right is actually hot, and that itself is very disturbing.

If you want to get away with actinics, then you should choose a higher K lamp. Phoenix 14Ks would be a good one.

If you are curious to know what the spread is like, here is a shot of my tank. Its a 4ft 90G. One of the 2 MH is off. Each reflector is centered on each half of the tank.

I was looking at those Lumenarc minis for lighting the middle of my tank. When you get them up let me know how you like them.

Thanks for the help everyone. I will see what it looks like and if it's too yellow i'll have to throw the pendents in a canopy along with some actinics I guess. I sure wish I could use the pendents as they are though. I like having easy access to the top of my tank since my stand is 43" tall making my tank lader worthy.

I could always settle with the look for now and once I get my tank filling in with some corals I could up the K rating for looks more so than growth.

I called my supplier and made a quick change. I am now going to be running 2 250W Megachrome Marine DE 13,000K bulbs. These bulbs are suppose to give me the growth of a 10,000K but without the yellow color.

Hmmm, according to Sanjays site, the Megachrome 13K is even more yellow than the Ushio 10K. On magnetic HQI ballast that is.

Yes but i'm using Electronic Icecap ballasts. I know a couple of people who use the Megachrom 13,000K bulbs without actinics and claim the color isn't yellow. But thats just what i'm told so it's hard to say.

Check out the Aqua Connect 14K bulbs, I run the 250 watt SE version, it rocks. Intense white with a nice hint of blue. According to Sanjay's site it has a high PAR (83) for a 14K or above wavelength.
