orange plate coral questions

Howdy, I got a new orange plate coral tonight, and was wondering if people have better results one way or another. I have a green plate which I keep mid way up in my tank and it is doing great, was just curious if the orange was the same. I believe the name is a faviosu?

They should both be kept on the sandbed. That is where they are found in nature. They can tear their flesh on the rocks if you keep them there. They are Fungiids.

I keep mine on the sand. I also feed him meaty foods and this appears to keep him fat and happy

Yellow Polyps missing

I've got a small slab of yellow polyps atht I put in a vertical position. When I was on vaction last weekend, I noticed that some polyps are gone at the bottom part of the slab (near the sand bed). Now, did something eat the polyps or they move out from the group. I've got some crabs, scarlet and blue, snails and one clownfish.

I keep mine on the rock structure up high right under one of the MH and it does VERY well. I also feed it 2 skinless silversides every day. The orange plate has tripled in size in 4 mounths. I know they are ment to be in the sand bed bout mine does very well right in the rock work.

Well, my orange plate coral turned purple. Actually I like the color better. It is on the sand bed and has grown very well in the last couple of years.
