is there a new store in LC

I remember someone having a thread about some info on a LC store. Well I heard from my local store about a new store that just opened up in LC and he said his friend said it was a great setup.
Wondering if anyone heard of this yet. I'd like to check it out this weekend if anyone knows the adress?

You know my wife told me that she thought she had seen a sign or store at the corner of main and Picacho sort of behind Harbor Freight Tools (I didn't believe her!! ). I will try and swing by there this afternoon to see.

Sorry didn't say where just that his freind said it was good and he said his freind was a good judge.
And I didn't know there was a harbor freight in LC. Damn thats great I love that store. But if you find it let me know I may swing down there today or sometime this weekend. And could you get the hours. Please

And yes there is a store in Alamo. It is Stelas Jungle. Not fully setup on the saltwater but I'm helping them out with all the plumbing of their tanks. SO far just 3 tanks a few fish and a few coral. but soon the rest will be setup should be real soon. Will be nice to be able to buy and order localy.
You guys in El P have that nice Coral reef but I don't have anything up here until now. Thats how I came across the 60 lbs rock for my tank and the used 125 for my new sump.

Hopefully it will be all up soon. Nate and Jeremy are the owners. Good guys and looks like it will be great to do business with them.

Beneath the Sea 1255 north Main Look for the sign "Darken Wood" (black and green sign) Tues-Sat 11am-7pm Sun noon-5pm. Looked like they were setting up their dry goods, but the tanks looked empty. I was there about 11:40am and they were closed so I don't think they are open yet. Sorry I didn't find a number. They may still be a week out from opening....just a guess on my part from peeking in the window.

Yes the new store is on 1255 North Main.... the name is Beneath the Sea. Me and seth went to check it out after class. His store is split with his buddy, half of it is the fish store and the other half is a sign making shop. It is difficult to spot it off the road unless you are really looking for it.... has nice paintings of fish on his glass with the name. He told us that it was to open officialy on sat. he was still setting up some stuff when we went. Has some dry goods and some fish. Not fully stocked yet because he hasnt finished the complete setup. No corals yet waiting til he is finished setting the tanks up. I think it will be good in Las Cruces i would say to wait a while before you go check it out to give him some time to finish setting up and stocking the tanks. He still has some pretty neat fish and some dry goods go check it out.

Just thought i would lets you guys know a little of what i think of the new store.

Ya we told the guy we heard of the store form RC.... he didnt seem to familiar with it??? He also said he had just moved bak frm Cali.... so i dont know if he really knows about RC. If you guys go check it maybe mention it better to him and he should like the idea since he said he has been doing salt since 1991.

hahahaha well put Jay!!!
i would recomend going to Petco in LC to get fish. Most have "ICH" and dont know as much about the saltwater fish. You get lucky and snag a great deal on a fish but take the chance of not so good health. To be honest i have only had luck with my percula clown and snowflake i got from Petco about 1 1/2 ago. The others i got eventually died from poor health. Its up to you, but i would rather buy them from EP alot better and worth it in the long run.

Yeah there is no saltwater store yet besides petco and it does suck, I have turned them in several times and they do not seem to care. Most of there fish are malnutrition and are suffering from ich. If you have a proper QT tank set up and no how to do hypo then it would be alright. they best place to go in Alamo is Ray with Fish n phlips. He is a great guy and good on his prices.
Also i will be at the meet on Sunday hopefully and will be bringing lots of frags for everyone. Still trying to frag jay's stuff which thanks a bunch jay.

puffin04 there is a new store in Alamo it is called Stelas Jungle.
Yes Ray at Fish n Phpps is a great guy and I buy most of my dry goods and fish from him but he doesn't carry coral.

And as soon as I get to LC I'll check out that new store. Everyone that goes in should mention RC. Another store on our side is a victory for everyone!!

I agree! We did need a store bad in LC. He seemed like a pretty cool guy and had alot of knowledge. PetCo is not worth the time to buy fish and no corals there but when they do get them in they are very poor.

correction about the new store, it is Beneath the Surface, the phone number is 575-202-3904 I hope I can give that with out worries. The guys name is Fred and will be special ordering for awhile to see what everyone is interested in. He was also interested in the group and will hopefully be involved. I definately think the shop is worth a stop by and see.

I spent almost an hour in the store yesterday. I could have spent a couple hundred bucks, but refrained. The store owner is very helpful and friendly and the prices are reasonable. He has a few coral colonies and a pretty good inventory of fish and inverts. I plan on going back today and buying a few things, snails and maybe a coral or flower anemone.

Ya I checked it out today...Looks promising he has plans to really add alot of livestock. Right now he has a couple interesting things (fish and inverts). Pricing seems fair. Not the cheapest ive seen though.

Bring cash if you go becuase as of now he does not take credit cards.

Yeah pretty cool store do not buy the camel back shrimp or your will regret it since they eat coral. All the anemones that i saw he had was the curly Q, condis, and a BTA which was hiding. Plus he loves that dog so much it was kind of hard to talk to him about things. I bought a bunch of engineers and his spotted hawk which is a neat fish. Just trying to dump some money so he can get better things. His partner is a pretty neat guy, thought i connect with him more then i did with Fred.... lollll

I am happy with my rock anemone and snails. I was starting a good green algae population, but the snails are really going to town and cleaning it, so I am happy!

I checked out the new store. Nice looking fish but no corals and nobody came out to help me. After about ten minutes I left without buying a thing because nobody was there. Sure could use a way to let them know somebody walked in.
