Pistol Shrimp

I have a YWG and I added a pistol shrimp today. Will they pair up eventually or wander the vast reef tank alone in solitude?

Eventually they will find each other.

It all depends on what type of pistol shrimp you purchased. Ive had a loner pistol shrimp in my tank for almost over a year now. Some dont need gobies to survive. Turns out mine is one of them. Do you know what type of shrimp you got? Do you know where its from? Any pictures?

The shrimp is a Tiger Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus) from Sri Lanka I think. I really only bought it so my YWG would have a pal to protect him from the mean True percs. I probably should have ditched the clowns. The symbiotic relationship should be enjoyable to observe as long as the sand storms are not that bad

I have never shared my tank with RC so I will take some pictures tonight and post them later on in the evening or in the am.

Yeah the shrimp that you have should pair up with a goby if they find each other.
