180 gal. build.
I'm starting from scratch. In wall 180 GAL. 6 ft. X 2ft. X 2ft. Fish room 9X10 ft. I need to build a stand, i never like the stands ht. they are always to short. Can anyone tell me how tall they built theres from floor to the bottom of the tank and show any pictures? I will have fish and sps, lps. I will be running 3- 400 watt metal halides over the tank with some VHOS also. I don't know what blubs i will be useing as of yet. I have a ASM-G 2 protein skimmer with a mod. that was done to it, another sedra 9000 sedra pump it does a great job now. I have a chiller if needed and a diy cal. reactor. I will need to buy a kalk reactor i'm not sure what i will be useing for that. I'm going to purchase a ocean motion 4 or 8 way and run my dart 3600 on the closed loop. I have a 60 gal. sump i use now so i will use that again and i still have to get a frag tank, and a refugium tank. If any one has any suggestions please let me no. I will be posting pictures of the aquarium room sometime this week. Thanks for all of your help.

I built my stand 40" tall out of 2" square tubing and then went and had it Line-x coated. I also built a 14" catwalk that bolts on.

I totally agree with you on the stand heights which is one of the reasons I decided to build my own...I went with 42" height.

Yea to me 40" to 42" is the perfect height so you don't have to look down at the tank. I'm building a 240 gallon inwall with my fishroom in the garage. The wife gave our camera to her sister so we could get a new one, so as soon as we get one I'll get some pics.

Here is what i have done so far.
I have to put more support on the back of the tank. The platform is 3 feet so that gives me a extra foot to work with. I'm thinking about building an extra foot onto it also. Thanks for the reply saltysupply. |

Here is what i did over the week end. We have all the walls up now and the ceiling. It's coming along. I had to cut the front wall were the tank sits so that it will be centered. I will be doing the electric and haning the dry wall this weekend. If anyone has suggestions for elec. feel free to give them to me before the weekend. Thank's.
