Check out my new 120gal project..pics...

Picked up this used tank for a great deal and I am in the process of getting it up and running. Hope you like the pics.

HOw I bought it

Now

I made this stand I have to finish it still. It is rusted with a polyurethane uv clearcoat almost like a car clear. I am going to make the doors look rustic and they will be attached using magnets so no hinges are visible.

Hope you enjoy. Oh yeah I picked up a euro-reef cr8.2 today for my skimmer.

That's sweet. Never thought about controlled rust for a finish! Nice.

I wouldnt put a 120 on that stand!

I think you need a sheet 3/4" mdf or plywood screwed onto the sides and back, or some type of equivalent support to keep the legs from warping or twisting? Especially for such a tall stand.

I like the tank. Cant wait to see it finished.

Nah the stand should be plenty strong I own a wrought iron company at this stand is overkill as it is.

The foam is called Handi-Foam you can find it Dr Foster and Smith just do a search on their site and you will find it. Its used mostly for ponds.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

If your tank is acrylic you need to have the whole bottom of it supported, You are going to have to put something under it. The foam you used is cool but you should have put a glove on and after about 3 min tacked it up a bit so it doesnt look so much like pooh.

staticx- you gotta have a little vision man I am going to use a razor blade and cut a little off the rounded pieces and then make a few more ledges for corals.

LOL
I think your tank is comming along great, I had just checked out another thread where a guy used that foam and he never did anything so it just looked like coraline covered pooh. I am sure it will be great. Dont forget to support the whole under side of yor tank though
