extension cords...

are extension cords a serious fire hazard to run 24/7? I would like to run both my lights on my 29g and 10g on the same coralife timer and they are to far apart to place the powerstrip between them.

I seem to recall a few posts questioning the reliablility of coralife light timers (power bar with built in timers) - in respects to catching fire. Especially with the reputation these timers have, I would not risk it.

I would not be running an extension cord to plug the power strip in, but extension cords on the powerheads, skimmers, filters and probally the heaters to reach the power strip.
