Ordering online for the first time!

Well decided to order online for the first time. I did buy an item off ebay and it was completely mislabeled and coloration was horrible. So I thought I'd try a reefcentral vendor. I've always been skeptical about ordering online as I'm sure many are.

I decided to buy from reefermadness.us. I did the 10 for 150 and bought a 2 starfish to get the bonus 2 frags. I've always heard they pack in goodies so as soon as I get them in, I'll post some pictures. They use 20k lighting and I use 10k so we can see the difference between the two which I know there will be some.

Anyone else have any good experiences with frags from places? Let's see some pictures with sizes etc.

I made a small order with LiveAquaria . (just a coral, a fish, and a few snails) The snails and the coral did just fine, but the fish didnt make it. They were no hassle at all getting a refund back to me for the fish. Here's two pics of the pearl bubble I ordered.

One right after delivery...

What they posted on their site:

What I got in the mail:

That is one side of the rock I recieved. It is in the shape of a "V", with just as many Zoos on the other half...

Yea I was goign to order those but they were out. I'm kind of glad I didn't now. They are still nice but don't appear the same at least for me. I'd like to see more pics from sites vs what you receive. I understand coloration differences from shipping and the picture isn't exact unless it is a WYSIWYG. I just paid tonight so I'm sure I'll get them in Thursday or Friday. They've been helpful in the past with my questions.

That's a nice bubble. I tried a few but to me they always seem like a very picky coral. Do they actually grow? Mine don't seem to spread at all. It's the size of a softball. I'm almost tempted to sell it but for some reason mywife likes it.

Did you contact reefermaddness about those? All the feedback I see about him is good.

Well I got them in! So far I count 14 bags I think. I ordered 12 things so I think 2 freebies. Packing was out of this world. I've never seen better. I'll be here a couple hours acclimating and going back to work. Hopefully pics tonight.

Blah. It got moved to the vendor experience area. I was trying to at least show people that have never ordered before what it was like. No one ever checks here that much so I guess it's a moot point.

Oh well. Thanks.

Sorry it got moved. However I still need to see pictures.
I think that some people do check the Vendor forums. I have been checking them a lot recently because I will need to place a large LR order soon for my new tank that is almost ready for water!

Odd. It won't let me post pictures. It only does the url. I try it in a non vendor forum and it works fine.

I guess I'll post links although quite annoying.

Ok here are the pictures of what I bought and right below it are the ones I got. Granted I have 10k's but it looks better in person and these were just the single shots I took so it could be better.

Blue Tips with Refreshing Spring Green Branches Frag of Acropora hyacinthus
Color faded some
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/1.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/hyacinthus.jpg

Red Hyacinthus
From above, you see more red.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/2.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/redhyacinthus.jpg

Flashing Rainbow frag of Acropora microclados
Color hard to tell.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/3.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/microclados.jpg

Green Mille - Hardly any coloration but at the right angle you can see the green.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/4.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/greenmille.jpg

Purple Samoensis
This thing is dead purple. It's sweet.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/5.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/cora...asamoensis.jpg

Green Monti Altasepta
Glows insane. Picture a bit lighter then it looks.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/6.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/cora...ialtasepta.jpg

Teal Samoensis
Pretty close
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/10.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/tealsamoensis.jpg

Purple Montipora
More purple then the purple monster imo. It's really nice and a ton of branches to start growing from.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/8.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/purplemonti.jpg

Pink Birdsnest
I flipped the frag over and I had it on the wrong side. It's not as intense but it is pretty dang pink.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/11.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/birdsnest.jpg

This I wasn't sure. This is a pink milli. Pretty dang big. He accidently put this one in instead of the 2nd red hyacinthus I ordered.

Pink starfish. Not as pink as the site but still really cool looking. Almost blends in with corraline on the rocks.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/cora...arfish.jpg.jpg

This is one he threw in. It's called a Gemmiffera. It's actually pretty nice. I have never heard of it before.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/unknown2.jpg

This is one of the freaky frags he threw in. Normally 49.00. It's called a Acro Yongei. It's a really nice bluish color. Color faded a bit and backside slightly browned. Really cool.
http://home.comcast.net/~jay24k/coral/unknown3.jpg

Bonus picture of a tort I got from someone this weekend. If I told you the price I paid for this nice piece, you wouldn't believe me. Guy really hooked me up.

Wow. That is a bunch of frags. Some of the links werent working for me for some reason.
How long would you guess will it take for them to have good growth in your tank? I am curious.
So overall you would say that you are very happy with the order you received correct?

Fixed all dead links. Pictures like I said are quick done. I hope after a month all the coloration pops back. I have to acclimate them from 20k to 10k so hopefully no losses will occur.

Yea I'm really happy. Colors did wash out but that's to be expected with 18 hours of shipping. I have some pictures of the boxing which I could jump on it and it wouldn't of leaked.

So my next order I get a free coral and a starfish so can't complain there. I got a total of 12 frags and 2 starfish.
It took forever to get them in the tank.

aahh ha. Got it now. Thanks. That was a close up.
I cant wait til my tank is running and I get to purchase my first frag package.
How about a full tank shot to show off all the hard work and what it all looks like. Or do you have them in QT instead of your main tank?
