How long?

I just got a descent sized rock with some pretty nice orange zoos, there is a descent amount of polyps, but they are very spread out. Can someone givve me an idea on how long it takes for them to spread?

Just as despot101 said, there are so many variables that there is really no way to give you a time frame. Lights, nutrients, flow, the zoanthid it's self.

Do you have a picture of your new frag? Maybe someone has the same zoo and can give you an idea of what it does for them.

Ok you only had 2 lines from the snapfish's URL. It has three lines. Go back and try again. I did the same thing when I first used them.

the orange one will cover in several months.

BUT, you'll have to scrape off the coraline. the coraline prevents the zoos (as well as other algaes) from growing on top of them.

not in my tank, my zoos grow on everything

I have those pink/gree, sweet zoos and grow fairly fast. The more aclimated they become the faster they spread, so try and not move them from place to place ofter (I did this). It also seems that the nicest zoos are the slowest growers

well, IME I found that some of my zoos will not grow beyond a certain point, while spreading in the other direction. that happens when there's a good chunk of coraline on the area that zoos are not growing at. are you sure that your zoo are growing over the coraline. have you seen a coraline patch, and months later covered with zoos? if you do, I stand corrected. but IME that's not what happens.

I do agree that not moving them will make them less stressed, and make them grow faster.

HTH,

Josh

If yours are anything like mine, your first and last colonies are fast growers as long as you have low nutrients and high lighting. For the middle colony, mine do not grow as fast as the others. But it still really depoends on each coral in each system. Things like postion, current, lighting, inhabitants, other corals in the area all play a large factor in coral growth. So when you come down to it, you just never know.
