Yellow H. Crispa... Dyed or not?
I have a friend that gets a lot of livestock wholesale. In one of his tanks is a beautiful yellow Heteractis (Sabae) anemone. Now in reading Sprung's Reef Aquarium V2, he clearly states that these are dyed if they are yellow, there's even a pic on p.361. The only problem is that my friend has had this anemone in his tank for over a month and it hasn't lost any color, and it eats very well. Now I'm not talking neon yellow here, but comparable to a hard boiled egg yolk yellow.
Has anyone ever seen a yellow sabae that wasn't dyed (at least that you're aware of)? Could the yellow color be a result of the lighting, or some other variable? Any thoughts? Chris |

Have seen lots of yellow sebaes. Unfortunately, I have not seen a single one that I did not think was dyed. Maybe there are yellow sebaes out there, but yellow is not a particularly common color in the sea anemone world - especially not the vibrant yellow most often associated with yellow sebaes.
Maybe someone has had a yellow sebae that stayed yellow (?)
