Hang on tank weight?

So I am hanging a Coralife 125 Super Skimmer on the side of my 40 gallon breeder. This skimmer seems quite heavy when filled with water. Will this stress or crack the glass wall of my tank? Does it have to be as close to a corner as possible for strength or can I put it in the middle of one of the short sides?

should be fine. nothing compared to the 40g of water pushing on the other side of the glass.

So even the middle of the side is ok, no need to keep it near the corner? It must weigh 25-30 pounds with the pump and water and all...

I said "should be" . If it were my setup, I'd do it with little or no concern, but that's just me. May wanna wait for another opinion or two to be on the safe side. Worst case scenario, may need a center brace installed on the tank, super easy DIY project for ya, but I just don't think it would be neccessary.

Anybody else have some thoughts?

I"m still new to the hobby but I haven't had any issues with my hang-on skimmer which is an Aqua C Remora Pro. It's Heavy but the tank seems to handle it fine.

we just purchased the coralife 125 and have it hanging on the side of our tank in the middle, we had the same concerns you did but tried it anyway, and is fine. Our tank is a 65g with 3/8 acrylic

Mine is a glass 40 gallon breeder that my father bought for me for my high school graduation... In 1984...

I reckon its built pretty solid since it is old... But it worries me nonetheless.
