I have one and like it, it pushes a ton of water with a maxi 600.

what size would be good for a 75 gallon, would a maxi jet 1200 with kit be to much flow.

I have a 75 gallon tank and the 600 does fine. I have tried the 1200 and for some reason it vibrates and is noisy. The 600 is silent.

I have a 1200 with sure flow kit in a 72 and still want a 600 modded!

I love this mod though it's strong and has a swivel mount!

I had a Maxi-Modded 1200 (@2500gph) and a Seio 2400 in my 75 gallon. You would be fine with that.
