Am I going in the right direction

I have a 40 gallon breeder tank that was in the middle of a HORRIBLE cyano and hair algea problem. So I added some more flow (2xmaxi-jet 1200's, 1x rio 100gph, and my 500gph return pump which is probably really like 280gph with head pressure=about 1000gph) and added a phos reactor with rowaphos and started to weekly to 10 day 10 gallon water changes.....i now have NO cyano what so ever but the hair algea is starting to take over......my phosphates are reading but very low like .1 or .2 ppm and my nitrates are reading at zero. Now i know these readings can be caused by the algea eating up the nutrients but what else can i really do??? Should I be happy that the cyano is gone??? Am i moving in the right direction, any help would be great because before all of this my tank was beautiful and now i have to listen to my wife every day saying that the tank looks like crap!!!! what should I do, or is this just a long process that is moving along (seeing that the cyano that was killing everything is 100% gone)?????

Thanks,
Vinny

Have you tested for iron? Hair algae feeds off iron too.

Only other thing i'd do differently is add a fuge if you havent already...

do you have livestock in the tank yet? i bought (hella cheap) live rock off someone with a crazy algea problem, i let the rock sit in the dark (in my tank, with powerheads/skimmer running) for 4 weeks and that got rid of it all.

sorry cant help on what might be causing it, which im sure you want to figure out to prevent the problem again/ help you fix it.

Thanks I actually just took the tank down to be honest Never had any time to really do much with it. So now i'm stuck with pico's for the moment (due to money lol).

I dont know what to tell you though as far as the algae...keep the water good, maybe get a small fish that likes algae. I'm a big fan of keeping tangs in LARGE tanks only, but you may need to get a baby tang and see if keeping him for a while will do the trick. Or maybe a lawnmower blenny, but those are hit or miss...

Have you tried a few emerald crabs? Those are also good at getting the algae.
