Need an old 250w MH bulb

I am upgrading my pendants this weekend, but to do so I have to wire in a new ballast. I am wondering if anyone has an old 250w MH bulb that I can use to test it so just in case things get wired funny, I won't blow my new $80 Hamilton.

I am looking at doing this Saturday.

Thanks

Wiring the MH socket is easy. Green goes to ground and the other 2 wires (black and white I assume) are both hot and it doesnt matter what order the black and white wires are connected in the socket or ballast.

Any wiring mistakes will most likely burn the ballast and not the bulb anyway. I have 2 or 3 old used up bulbs you are welcome to, but i wouldn't waste my gas. The wiring is pretty simple, and the ballast is at risk of blowing, not the bulb. You can google a wiring diagram for whatever ballast you are working with if you need one.

That is not too far from me actually.

Problem is time. I usually work from 5a till 6 or 7pm. You working this Sat?

Thanks for the input from everyone else. Never thought that it would be the ballast that goes out rather than the bulb. These are used ballasts so I wanted to be sure.
