Orange Monti plate coral is this normal in shaded areas?

My orange plate has always had this brown spot in the deep fold of the coral. It is hard to tell from pic but that area does not get as much light. It has grow a bunch in a year! Is this normal or does it have some kind of disease? Thanks.

I have the same problem with all my caps. As they grow and shade out lower areas of the coral, the shade areas seem to die off.

It's normal. The light areas are not dying off, they've just lost their pigmentation. If you remove the overlapping "leaves" and there's white below, they'll color back up and continue to grow nicely.
