New Rose Anemone and 2 Onyx Clowns - How much flow is too much flow?
We currently have a 46-gallon BF with two Koralia 2 pumps on each side. My older fish (Coral Beauty and a Royal Gramma) don't seem to care but we just added two small Onyx clowns and a Rose Anemone. They've acclimated well and love the Rose, but they never seem to get "comfortable" in the Rose. There is a lot of circulation where the Rose Anemone is sitting and the clowns are always very actively swimming.
How much circulation is too much for them? Is this something I should really be concerned with? I've got a CA-1800 650gph pump for the return, and the two Koralia 2 pumps (600gph) inside the tank. Here is a picture of the setup... excuse the crappy pictures and all of the crap in the water... I just stirred things around and fed them so there were things EVERYWHERE! Thanks, Ed

I would think if the anemone didn't like it, it would move anyway. They are new? Maybe the clowns are just getting use to it.

Mine are right in front of my maxijet, they look like they will blow away. But they've been there over 2 years.

Right in front of the MaxiJet? Wow! Okay, I was probably just in panic mode. The anemone didn't move an inch, so i'd assume that he's happy there as well. The lights kicked on this morning and he opened up quite nicely.
The clowns survived their first night in the tank and look fine. My Coral Beauty isn't exactly amused by their presence, but I smoothed that over with some Arctipods. Thanks to everyone, Ed

I went ahead and took a video of the onyx clowns in action. Anybody think this is too much?

Thats not too much at all, probably just right. My rose has about that much flow and my percs sleep in it at night with no problem. Also my percs look just like yours but arent considered onyx, so i'm wondering if mine are then. Does anybody know?

I couldn't tell ya! I actually started out wanting true percs but wanted some really dark ones. We took a ride out to Rod's Reef yesterday with the intention of buying some food and ended up coming home with the Rose and Clowns. (Couldn't resist... he was almost out!)
I have no idea how to tell the difference though.

Awww what cuties!
Guess little fish just have to swim more to stay put... as they grow they'll have an easier time of it. |

Thanks for the complements everyone. We really love the new clowns. They do seem a bit happier tonight than last night. I guess it just takes some time.
They also ate like pigs tonight so they're definitely sleeping on full stomachs tonight.

Wow you guys have a ton of flow on those anem's! Mine is right in the middle of the tank and gets gentle flow back and forth from each side. It looks like they do fine either way though.
