advice on shipping a tank

i am not getting any local hits on selling my tank so I need to consider shipping. Does anyone know what's involved with this, who does it, etc etc...?

It's a 32"X 32"X32" glass tank. I estimate it weigths roughly 250lbs.

any help would be appreciated!

thanks!

It will need to be shipped freight. You will need to build a custom wooden shipping crate with foam insulation to keep that tank help firmly in place.

Your looking at maybe $200-$350 shipping for a 300 pound item (what would be called "less than a truckload") depending on the source and destination zipcode.

do you know if there's a weight limit when an item needs to be on a pallet? Not sure if it's costs less if it can be moved by hand like a piece of furniture. thanks again!

I am not sure what the weight or size limit is, but your item certainly will need to be palleted.

Wooden crates, or shipped freight on a wooden pallet, wrapped up in foam sheets and shrink wrap. Even though the tank sits on a pallet, it does bounce around during shipment and things might fall on it. Who knows. Goodluck.

you can buid your crate to protect the tank and add a cpl of 4x4s to the ends (so a forklift can lift it) it doesnt actually need to be on a pallet as long as the company (UPS,R&L Carriers etc) picking it up can access it easy. If i was going to ship it i would put and extra layer of styrofoam around it and on the bottom also.
BTW im a truckdriver. good luck

freight priceing is calculated by weight and size.

and 500lb crate aint nothing, its smaller than a skid.it will be around $150 the west and around $250 to the east

if its not able to be moved by a towmotor, it is usually more expensive aka:"floor freight"
