Live rock that froze...can it be cured and used again???
I got about 50lbs of live rock for free from a friend of mine that has decided to go fish only. I have a pretty good amount of live rock already and I was only able to use about 10 lbs of it...It is now sitting in my garage in saltwater but the garage is not heated...I'm sure that the 16 degree day that we had a couple days ago probly killed just about everything in the rock. Another friend of mine is interested in setting up a reef and I offered to give him the remainder of the rock for free. Can this rock be re-cured? I'm sure there is a HUGE amount of die-off...what would be the best way to cure this rock and how long will it take so that I can hook up a new reefer?

I would definitely cure it, but it can be used. It won't be live of course, but it will become live again over time if it's in a tank with some more live rock...if that makes sense.

You might be surprised by what actually lives though those cold temps.
