Angry Vines Everywhere!!!

Over the past few months I've had some type of vine start to take hold in my main tank. I have no clue what it is. It looks like a vine with little leaves and takes hold on rocks. I have been plucking away for the last month or two with no luck!

What is the best way to get rid of this monster? I just recently put a yellow tang in my tank and hopefully he will take a liking to them!

Are the vines green? It certainly sounds like a Caulerpa hitchhiker.

how many rocks has it taken hold of? you might want to isolate that rock w/ macro until you get a removal solution. i'd caution with the tang though, if the tang does pluck off the macro but does not eat all of it.. it could just spread the pest algae to other parts of the tank.

Other than mailing it to me , if it's in your 110, a tang and/or foxface would help. I assume it's starting to get on some inverts?

I would start with manual removal as often as possible, and maybe pick up a good herbivore to work at it when you cant.

I've had two of these and never had a problem with them nipping at corals.

So long as you are not near your max bioload in the 65gal I would think the rabbitfish would be fine in that size tank. And many individual's of this species have been reported to mow down Caulerpa, hair algaes, other macros and seagrasses. Hopefully you'll get lucky.
