gfci tripping

I just installed a 20 amp gfci while changing out my tank. I tested it out with a powerstrip and one mj600, and it trips. why would this happen?

Try a different power strip and/or a different pump. Pump could be leaking stray voltage, power strip could have some type of ground fault ...

You are sure it's installed correctly, yes?

bad powerstrip. put a different PS in and it's fine. has 3 mj's, a light and a heater going no problems.

btw, i was able to swap that tank out at a different LFS (sorta odd, but the two lfs's work with each other). tank is going well

Excellent!

One of the LFS, well not too far away, stock the reef ready tanks. Pretty cool not having to wait if you want a RR.
