Sapphire Skimmer Question

I just got a Sapphire NC24 skimmer for my 24 gal nano cube. There is no skimmate. Should there be skimmate right away or is there a break in period? How long is the break in period if there is one? I think I have everything hooked up correctly according to the directions anyway. I have an overflow for my tank, airline connected to the pump, pump set to medium and the skimmer placed in middle compartment. Any info would be of great help.

Thanks
Matt
