Copepods & Mandarin

My 90g reef tanks has been up and running for a year and 4 mouths now. My LFS told me that it should be ok for me to add a Green mandarin. So I did and it has been doing well for a little over a month but it seems to be losing some thickness. I can’t see it eat but he picks at the rocks and some and the sand. -Should I be worried about it? I have about 100-120lbs of live rock. Should I have a well enough established population of these little guys to keep him happy?

Do you have other fish in the tank that rely on copepods or feed on them heavily? You should consider adding a refugium to your system to provide a safe place for pods to breed.

Try to find Nutramar Ova (frozen prawn eggs). I heard Mandarin's go nuts for them!

you may have to make a pod pile if you don't have a fuge. It's basically a pile of LR rubble with a strawberry basket over top. so pods can breed but fish can't get into to eat them.

I would but I am thinking of redoing my sump to add a fuge and make it larger as well. 20g tank just seems small.
